Air compressors hard mount vs. portable - Tacoma World

I am looking to hard mount (or maybe portable) an air compressor in my TACOMA trd sport.
Anybody have a good suggestion for brand and ways to mount it?

As far as the portable one I looked at a VIAIR 300p for $80.00

thx for the help...
grab an MF . Some hard mount theirs, i keep mine portable and its been much better that way. Use it semi often and its done great. Cheap too, i think i got it for 50ish after a pepboys 20% off.
I have a Viair 400 P. I love it. Probably will save me from running onboard air, aside from a hand me down pump for lockers.
Thanks. What size tires are you inflating? I think for the $$$ and my limited use that the 300p should work fine.
yes , I have the 110 on my trd and thought that might be a viable option..thanks for the information...it makes sense too
Better check the wattage of any proposed compressor. Even my shop vac draws too much to run off the invertor.
I don't think there are any real air compressors that will run off 400 watts
That's less than 4 amps at 110V. Air compressors draw a lot of power on startup.

Viair 400P is a good bang for buck. Even those little things pull 360 watts.
I have the Viair 400P which I initially used as temporary connect. It works great as a portable. I did have two "complaints" about using a portable though. One was the extra time it took to connect was sort of annoying, but more annoying is that it gets too hot in use to pack back up without letting it cool off for a bit. The second issue was having the hood up for connecting caused more than one nice person to stop and see if we were having mechanical problems.

Since then I've semi-permanently installed it. I'm much happier with this setup. Write up in my build thread.
I can't imagine not having my compressor hard wired. Also, with running my 33s around 12 psi most of the time when I off road, I can't imagine using a lesser compressor than my ARB CKMA12. It's worth every penny.

I've had plenty of people stop to see if I need assistance when I have tho hood up to air up. They quickly become interested in my setup when I explain what I'm doing. It's sparked some pretty cool conversations with some very nice people.

This is the one I have, and it works fantastically. No issues airing up tires. I left it portable cause it's just easier, and I don't really have room to mount it in the engine bay either.
